The International Symposium on Probabilistic Methodologies for Nuclear Applications (ISPMNA) was founded in 2013 by Bogdan Wasiluk (then with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, CNSC), following his recognition of a critical need to strengthen communication between regulatory bodies and industry worldwide in the application of probabilistic methods to nuclear safety.
Since its inception, five symposia have been successfully held. The first two editions took place in Canada under the organization of the CNSC, followed by the third in the United States organized by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the fourth in England organized by Rolls-Royce, and the fifth in Tokyo jointly organized by the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) and the Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA).
The sixth symposium will be held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, and is jointly organized by the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety (KINS) and the Korean Society of Pressure Vessels & Piping (KPVP).
